Hospital time!

Well, it is baby time! I'm up cooking me up some hashbrowns waiting to be able to go to the hospital to get induced!! I'm so excited! I didn't go to bed until about 2 last night and then Lorelai was talking to me for about 45 minutes after that! She is so cute. She is very excited(me too) because her Oma is here! She was telling me about all the fun things that her and Oma are going to do today while mommy is at the hospital getting Lincoln out of my tummy! She is very excited to play with the new Play-doh that Oma bought her. I'm so excited to see her as a big sister, it is going to be really fun. She is so sweet, and I think she is going to be an awesome big sister and such a big helper to me! She is the best little girl I could ask for!
I'm super excited to meet my little Lincoln. He doesn't want to come out, but I can't wait anymore! I'm so excited to have a little boy join our family. It will be fun to see the differences in having a boy and a girl. It was a long road to get to this point, but I'm so excited the day is finally here that I will get to see and hold my little Lincoln!! I'm so grateful for the oppurtunity that I have to be a mother, it is the greatest thing in the world.
My appointment was schedualed for 8:30am, but I called and they said I could come in an hour early so I better finish getting ready, it's almost baby time!!!

Ok, Lincoln Foster Hatch it is!

Spelling of baby's name

Hmmm, Steve said that he was thinking of spelling it Linkin.... now I'm not sure. Linkin Foster Hatch or Lincoln Foster Hatch. Not sure, not sure....

And baby Hatch's name is....

So, I think we have settled on a name! Lincoln Foster Hatch. We got Lincoln off of the tv show Prison Break. (Yes, some people name their kids after prophets or bible people, we name our kids after tv characters, lol) And Foster is Steve's dad's middle name, so it is a Hatch thing. I like his name more and more the more I hear it.
So the last couple days I have started to really feel little Lincoln move! It is so cool, it is my favorite part about being pregnant. He still doesn't move a whole ton, but enough to make me happy. I can't wait until Steve and Lorelai will be able to feel him move though. It will be fun to see what Lorelai thinks about that. I think she is starting to understand a little bit more that a baby is going to come live with us. Today her and I were going through baby clothes pulling out all boy clothes that we could find from Lorelai's stuff. I actually found a couple brand new boy outfits that I had, I must have bought them before I knew what I was having with Lorelai, and I'm sure they were on clearance! I still haven't bought Lincoln one new thing yet though! I have been looking, but I haven't found anything that I had to have, at least not in my price range! There are a ton of cute boy clothes out there, but you have to pay a pretty penny for them! And I don't go shopping much, so I don't get to do my clearance shopping as much as I did for Lorelai. Oh well, we have some clothes coming from family and my Mom is coming in Novemember and I have a feeling Lincoln will get a couple new outfits then!
So we have been potty training Lorelai for a couple weeks now. She has done AMAZING!!! She has had a total of 5 accidents in a 2 week period! I think that is pretty amazing! She was telling me when she had to go by day 3. We did the candy thing and she stopped wanting candy on day 4, she just wanted to go potty. She is awesome! I'm so proud of her! She still ask for a diaper to go poo, or just poos her pants, but I think she is doing pretty awesome! She is over 3 now, but she just wasn't ready before. It made such a huge difference waiting until she was ready. She got trained right away. We had tried a few times before with no success. But it was worth it to wait!
Steve and I painted the kitchen last weekend. It is a really pretty dark red. Oh did we have some problems though. Well we found the PERFECT color on clearance and Steve assured me that we would have enough...well he should have listened to me because we didn't! And since it was on clearance we didn't know what color it was, and the paint came from Wal-Mart...so needless to say we weren't able to match it just right. We are going to go to HomeDepot sometime though and see if they can color match it with their color match technology. It looks pretty good though, there are a few spots where you can tell the color is a little off on the main wall, but it isn't bad. On the wall with the sliding glass door though, ha, that wall looks ridiculous! Well, if you look at it from far away it looks fine, so if you come to my house, just keep your distance from that wall and you won't be able to tell a thing! I do love the color though, it makes me happy to walk into my kitchen and see some color!
Steve also put our back lawn in. It looks really good! He did such an amazing job. And he pretty much did it all by himself! Our neighbor Britton did help a bit, and I attempted to help a couple times, but for the most part, Steve did it all himself. He worked so hard for a couple weeks getting it all done. He is so awesome. He would come home from work and just go right outside until it got dark and worked on the yard. He is a very good husband and father. He works so hard for us and wants to make us happy. I'm a lucky lady to have him!!
I have to say, I'm pretty happy with my life. I have an awesome husband, and amazing little girl, and a sweet little boy on the way. We have a beautiful home, and my husband has a good job. We have wonderful family and friends, what more could we ask for?? Sure money is tight, and I get lonely sometimes having no family around, but life is great! I feel really blessed.

Knocked Up!

Ok, so it's been a while. The big news, I'm finally pregnant!! I'm due Feb. 7th, 2011. I think it was that HSG test that did the trick! We are so excited and can't wait to have this little one join our family! Still will be about another month before we find out the sex, but either way it doesn't matter! I do have to say that I am more nervous for a boy. I just already know what to do with a girl! And we already have all the girl stuff, so it would just be easier, lol. But either way I will be happy. Steve thinks it is for sure another girl. I have no idea, I knew Lorelai would be a girl, but this one has me confused! Guess we will find out in about a month. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and good thoughts. We really appreciate it and feel so grateful to have such wonderful family and friends!
This pregnancy has been a bit different from my first one. I've been WAY more sick. I haven't puked yet though! I'm about 15 weeks along, so I might never puke, woo-hoo! I have never been a big puker thoughI think I went like 6 years without puking at one point. I've been super tired this pregnacy too. That isn't diffent from last time, but now I have a 3 yeaer old to chase around, so I can't sleep everytime I'm tired! Oh well. I'm surving and I'm just so thankful to be pregnant.
Lorelai is growing up so much. I can't believe what an awesome little person she is. I just love to sit ther eand watch her and see what she does. I love watching her discover new things. She is such a little performer too! She totally recites lines of movies/shows and does dances. She has such an amazing memory as well. She watches a movie once, and she can quote it the second time we watch it. She is so beautiful too. I'm so in love with this little girl, it amazes me!
Yesterday we went to a pool party that our dentist office was throwing. It was so much fun! It took Lorelai a little bit to warm up to the idea of swimming, but by the end she was running all over the kiddie pool. I really need to take her swimming more. It is just so hard when we don't have a community pool. There is a city pool in the next town over, so I think we will have to go there at least a couple times before the summer is up.
My mom and dad decided that they are coming to Utah again this year for Thanksgiving. We are really excited! Hopefully we can get more of the family to come as well. We had so much fun with my family for Thanksgiving last year. A lot of my family is going to be getting together in Texas for Labor Day. I'm sad that I won't be able to go, but we just couldn't swing it this time. We have had so many expenses lately, we just have to really watch our money. But I hope that they have a great time, and maybe they can make it here for Thanksgiving!

And the waiting continues and comes to a hault

So my HSG test went good. My tubes are all clear. I actually had to go there twice. The first time the doctor couldn't get the tube or whatever in the right position, so after being poked and prodded at for about 45 minutes, they sent me home and I had to return the next day. Took that lady all of 10 minutes to complete the test....oh well. They gave me a $25 Barnes and Nobles gift card since it was such a pain and I had to come back, lol. But yeah, tubes are all clear. We went back to the fertility doc, and now we have to do all the other test. Steve needs to get his sperm checked and I need to have my eggs checked. We were planning on doing those in a couple weeks, but now we can't. Since insurance covers nothing fertility related, we just can't afford it. We are having a really hard time financially right now. We are hoping by July we will be back on our feet, we just have to make it until then! But yeah, so all the baby stuff is being put off. Oh, and I have been doing ovulation testing with the pee on a stick things. And yeah...I am not ovulating this month, or I missed it I guess. That worries me a lot, but I can't worry about it now because there is nothing we can do about it. We don't have the money to get anything checked and won't for a while, so we will have to just wait and see. Hopefully I will just get pregnant sometime in the next year or so and then we won't have to go back to the fertility doc for now.
But on a positive note, it has been beautiful outside! I have been enjoying just sitting outside, it is so nice! And we have grass to sit and play on, it's great. Lorelai has been enjoying it as well. She plays with her next door neighbor friend Raylee so that is fun. We have bbqed with Lindsay and Britton(our friends and next door neighbors) as well, so that has been fun. I see a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers in our future! Especially since Lorelai LOVES hot dogs. Who knew? Not me. She will eat about 1 1/2 every time we eat them, no bun, just the dog. At least it is meat....well sort of, haha!
Steve has a business trip in CA coming up. His meetings and stuff are Monday-Thursday or something, so he decided to take both weekends surrounding that and stay in CA and visit with his family. He will be gone 10 days, which is a lot, but I thought it would be good for him to spend sometime with his family without Lorelai and I there competing for time. (Whenever we go on vacation I actually want to see my husband since that is the only vacation time he gets off) It would have been fun to go, but it's ok, I don't mind staying behind. Lorelai and I will find fun stuff to do. There is something that makes me sad though. He planned this trip a couple months ago and at the time didn't realize that he would be gone for Mother's Day. Well, he comes home that night, but not until around 9pm. It's a bummer, I wish we would have realized that, but to late now. He says we will just celebrate the next day...but it won't be the same. Oh well.

So I'm freaking myself out a little bit so I thought I would write about it, and maybe that would help! So we went to the fertility doctor yesterday. He seems really nice and the clinic seems awesome and super helpful. It was just a consult, so we don't know anything, and won't for 2-3 more weeks. It is driving me crazy already! I don't know how NOT to think about it though! I am going to have an HSG test(Hysterosalspingogram). It is scary. It could show m that I won't be able to get pregnant on my own without a surgery being done to try to correct the problem or just having to do in vitro. It makes me really sad that this could be the problem. If it is, looks like we won't be able to have a big family like we have wanted. But I'm trying to come to terms with that. Even if we were just able to have Lorelai, I would be ok with that, she is the greatest little person in the whole world!!! But yeah, so we just have to wait and see if that is the problem. HOPEFULLY that isn't the problem and it is something a lot simpler than that. But the doctor seemed really concerned after I told him about my appendix surgery, so he thought this would be the best place to start. The test isn't cheap either! Unfortunately insurance won't pay for it, they actually pay for no fertility stuff at all. But the HSG is going to cost us around $400, and that is the best deal around here, but we have to pay it in cash...which has been low around here for a while. This whole thing is soooo emotionally draining and it is just beginning. I need to find myself some projects or something to do to keep my mind off it all. I wish it was nice outside! It snowed last night, so I don't think it will really be warming up anytime soon. When I'm in the house all day I find myself on the internet a lot reading about infertility and freaking myself out. It's not a good thing! But I can't help it, I'm just so nervous about it all. I'm really scared. Hopefully things will be ok...

Meh!

Another month and still not pregnant. I'm really sad and frustrated. I've been crying tonight(Steve hasn't noticed yet, I haven't told him). I'm so tired of all this trying and just nothing coming of it. I'm so sad. The worst part of it is the hoping and letting myself think that I am pregnant just to be disappointed. I don't know what else to do. We have the ovulation kits and all that. I'm just so frustrated!!!!! But enough about that...
So we went to CA a couple weeks ago. We had a really good time. We spent time with Steve's family. We usually see my brother Rich and his family, but unfortunatley that didn't work out this time. It is fun to spend time with Steve's family. We always play the Wii a lot. We bring ours down everytime we go and we golf and bowl most of the time. We also got to go to Pleasanton 1st ward. Both Steve and I both grew up going to that ward, so it was fun to see everyone that still lives there. I always feel very at home going to church there. Lorelai also had fun seeing the animals that her grandma and grandpa have on their property. Horses, cows, chickens and lots of stray cats!!
Our drive home was a pain in the butt!! There was a storm coming so we tried to head out before it hit, but we failed! The roads and stuff actually weren't bad at all, but because Californians are afraid of the snow, we got stuck having to put chains on. We did come prepared though. On our way out of town we bought some chains from wal-mart. We have done many many trips to CA and have never had to use them(we always returned them when we got back home). So Steve got out in the slush and tried getting the chains on. He tried and tried but just couldn't do it. Turns out we bought the wrong size chains. Apparently we have some monster wheels on our little car or something! So we got ripped off and had to end up buying some chains at a gas station. They were about $70 so it was an unexpected pain financially. But oh well. We got home safe, that's all that matters. Lorelai was so super good. She is such a good kid. She just sat quietly in the back, watched a couple movies on the laptop or slept. We are so lucky.
So we have been home for a week or so now. I've been working hard on keeping the hous clean. I've been doing pretty good! A lot better than I have ever done I think. I have also been working out a lot which has been nice. We bought a new toy! We bought a 50 inch plasma for downstairs. Steve has some of his video games down there and we watch movies down there too. All we have left to buy is a couch or a futon or something for down there and then we will be done buying things for the house for a long time!! Buying the tv was a luxory, but we got a really good deal on it, so we decided to do it now. Tax refunds are coming soon, and we have no intrest payments for 6 months, so we will get it completly paid off before then!
Well I guess that is about it for the last month or so. I haven't really taken any pictures or anything but I will try to do better with that. My mom and sister are coming in a couple weeks, so that will be fun. Time for a little bit of girl time! I really need it!!

2009 in review

We had a pretty eventful year. Let's see. It started by Steve receiving an internship with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was in Salt Lake City (right by the Energy Solutions Arena for those of you who are familiar with Utah). So we made the move from Rexburg, ID to Taylorsville, UT. We found a cheap apartment(I wish we wouldn't have!) and we moved in. We IMMEDIATELY went to Rhode Island for a couple weeks to spend the holiday with my sister Jessica and her family. Steve came home early to start work and I stayed a few more days while Jessica and Matt actually came to Utah for Matt's sister's wedding. We had a wonderful time with their family and enjoyed getting to know the kids better. And I believe this was the first time Steve and Matt met...is that right? I think so!
So we were getting settled in to our new place. My friend Sariah and her family moved into the same apartment complex, so that was fun to have them so close. We had a great little ward where Lorelai tried out nursery for the first time. But that apartment....I started to hate it! We got ants REALLY bad. We were up on the 2nd floor but those little buggers still came in and took over my kitchen an pantry. We had to move all the food from the pantry into Lorelai's room. Fortunately this apartment did have HUGE closets(pretty much the only thing good about them!) so it was ok, just annoying. We finally got them under control a month or so before moving out, but I never did put all my food back!
So in the mean time Steve got offered a full time position with the Church. We weren't sure if he would because the Church was on a hiring freeze. But I guess Utah is where we are supposed to be because Steve got hired anyway. His supervisor was very impressed with him and helped him work his way in, which we are very thankful for. He also finished up a class online and graduated from BYU-Idaho! He didn't care about walking, but was happy to graduate. I'm so very proud of him!
Since Steve got a job, we thought a good move would be to buy a home here in Utah. Steve's office was moving more south to Riverton, so we thought we would head that way were home prices were cheaper. After looking all around, we found a builder that we loved. They had a development that was about a 3 minute walk to Steve's new office. The problem was they were way out of our price range. But luckily they had another development about 15 minutes south and the first time we drove up to it we just fell in love. We loved the neighborhood an just knew that is where we would live. We looked at a bunch of models and plans, but ended up picking a wonderful home that they had already started construction on. We still got to pick out everything and it turned out great. We had some problems with the loan just because Steve had just started his job, but with the help of our wonderful lender we got it all worked out. We got an amazing deal, $8000 from the government(which we waited FOREVER to get), and then another $12,000 from Utah and from our builder that went straight into the house for closing costs and such. So this was all happening around mid April to May.
Luckily Steve did get that job and the health insurance that came with it! (We hadn't had insurance for a while). Around the middle of May my appendix ruptured. It was pretty severe, and I probably came close to dying, but the Lord was watching out for me and I got some good care at the hospital. I have a post about my whole appendix story if you want to go back a couple months and read that, it was pretty crazy! So, my parents came for my surgery, and mom ending up staying for a month to help us out. I was in the hospital for a week and then recovery was hard. I don't know what we would have done without her! She is such an angel! Even though she has health problems she was still there taking care of us, watching Lorelai so Steve could go to work. And we are so grateful that Dad let her stay for so long as well! It was a sacrifice that both of them had to make, and we appreciate it soooo much more than we could ever tell them.
While I was in the hospital recovering it was Lorelai's 2nd birthday! I was super sad to miss it, we weren't able to do much for it,so I will make up for it next year! She is so beautiful and funny and smart. She is such a great little girl. She is really shy but once she gets comfortable around you see how hilarious she can be. We are so blessed to have such an amazing daughter. I couldn't ask for a better kid. She is my best friend and we have so much fun. She is a little parrot, repeating everything she hears. She dances around and acts out shows she watches on tv. She loves drawing and just playing. She is the best!
So a couple weeks after my surgery Vid and Tiff came through town so we got to see them real quick. On Vid's way back I was able to show him our home(we hadn't closed on it yet, but we were still able to go in). I don't remember how finished it was when he saw it, but I think it at least had carpet! Mom was still there and helped us(or pretty much did it herself) pack up our apartment. Unfortunately our closing date kept getting pushed back so she left a few days before we got the keys. We moved in during Father's Day weekend in June. I was still unable to lift anything from my surgery so I was no help. But we had some wonderful help from our old ward packing up the truck, and then Steve's co-worker and his family helped us unload the truck. In record time might I add!
So we settled into our home and had our first visitors for the 4th of July! Mom and Dad were able to come out. We had a nice relaxing time with them. My aunt and uncle were able to come and have dinner with us and play games as well. We had a great time. And then a couple weeks later Steve's parents and brother Mike were able to come out as well. We had a great time with them. Cynthia and her family stopped by for a couple days as well. Jennifer and her family also came out during the summer as well. We had fun going swimming with them and hanging out. In September Steve's parents came back and brought Elise and her son Ben was able to come as well. It was great to have his family come, we almost have had them all here!
Also in September we added a new family member! We got a kitty! She was my birthday present(I turned 27 this year, yuck!). Her official name is Tiger Lily, but what she has been come to know by in our home is Kibby. That is what Lorelai calls her, so I think there might be a name change! She is a cute little thing. She is very playful and sweet. She also is a little butt and tries to get up on the counters and the table, but we are trying to teach her not to. I know that she knows that she isn't supposed to, but she is just pushing her limits! But we love her and she has been a fun addition to our home.
October was Halloween of course. Lorelai was a cute little Tiger. Steve's office does a trick or treat thing, so we went to that and got sooo much candy. More than regular trick or treating. We went trick or treating in our neighborhood with our neighbors Lindsey and Britton and their little girl Raylee. They have become wonderful friends to us! We are so lucky that they are our neighbors and friends. We know we can count on them and we hope they know they can count on us for anything! Lorelai even stays with them sometimes! She won't do that with hardly anyone! They watched her for us while we went to an awesome Halloween dance performance in Salt Lake. We love all the dance competition shows on tv, so Steve surprised me with tickets to this performance.
November is Thanksgiving! We were able to have a ton of my family come! It was so fun. Mom, Dad, Grandma, RH and his family, and Rich and his family. It was so fun, and we actually had room for everyone! So fun.
December my cousin Will got married so my parents came out again! Got to see them 4 times this year! This trip they were only here for about a day, but it was still fun. Made an In-N-Out run or two.(That's right, In-N-Out has made it to Utah! Makes me happy to know it's there!) It was a beautiful wedding and I was able to see a lot of family from my dad's side. Steve's work had a little party. Lindsey watched Lorelai so I could go with Steve and his coworkers out to lunch and a movie. An Christmas was nice as well. We decided to spend our first Christmas in our new home. We bought a real tree(got a great deal going with Lindsey and Britton) and decorated a bit. We weren't able to get the lights up on the house this year. Steve got pretty sick for a week, and then it snowed so it was too dangerous since the only way to get lights up on our tall house is going to be to get onto the roof. That's ok, next year! Steve is planning on setting up nails or hooks during the summer to make it easier.
So yeah, we just stayed home. Lorelai had a fun time opening her presents and playing with EVERYTHING! Even down to her cheapo stocking stuffers! It was so fun to watch her. We had Christmas dinner with Lindsey, Britton and Raylee. (Christmas Eve pizza with them too!) It was nice just to be home and enjoy a nice relaxing holiday.
We have been trying to get pregnant for close to 2 years now so I went and had my thyroid checked out. I was kind of hoping that's all it was, but turns out my thyroid is perfect. So, I guess that is good, but now we have to figure out what is wrong still. Hopefully it won't take us too long to find out! I guess that sums us up for the past year. It has been a wonderful, exciting, painful, stressful, fun, blessed, family filled, great year. Bring on 2010!! We are planning a trip in a couple weeks to see Steve's family so that should be fun. So goodbye 2009, thanks for all the good things....and even the bad!

Still not knocked up

So, as many of you know(well I have no idea who, if anyone even reads this!) we have been trying to get pregnant for a while now. It's creeping up on two years, with a couple month break in there for my appendix surgery. It is getting really frustrating! We have needed to have stuff checked out for a while now, but just haven't had the money or time really to do it. But we really need to. I am actually thinking it might be my thyroid, which I hope it is, because there is an "easy" way to fix that problem. I am just hoping that I don't have any huge problems due to my surgery. I think I'm a little scared to find out what is wrong to tell you the truth. I just keep hoping that if I just wait "another month" I will become pregnant.
It seems like everyone around me is getting pregnant though. I currently have 4 sister-in-laws that are pregnant, and one that just gave birth last month. My friend/neighbor is pregnant, and a ton of other people I know. I am extremely happy for all of them, I truly am, I just am sad. I'm grateful for my little girl, and if she is the only child I am able to give birth too, then, well, I got the best! But I just keep hoping and praying that our family isn't done growing yet. I know people that can't even have a child, so I do feel blessed that I had that opportunity. But yeah, I will go to the doctor soon to find out if there is something wrong...I guess I'm just scared.

Cutest girl in the world!

I'm so in love with my daughter! She is the best!! She is so funny. She keeps me laughing everyday with the things she says and does. "Delish" ,"Daddy farted out his butt" , "I cannot believe it", "Oh gosh, oh my goodness!". Those are just a few of her favorite little sayings that always make me smile. She is finally starting to sleep (for reals) in her bed! I know, I know she is already 2 1/2, most people already have their child out of their bed along time before this, but this is a big deal for us! She tells us when it's time for bed, turns off the tv and heads to her bed and waits to brush her teeth, say prayers, and all that.

She loves painting, and drawing, and all stuff. I keep trying to think of little crafty projects that she can do that won't drive me crazy with a big mess! I had to search and search to find those watercolor books where the paint is already on the page and you just use water and a paint brush. Thank goodness for Target!! Steve didn't believe me that these existed, apparently he never used them when he was little. I thought they were a super common thing, but apparently not! She loves playing with/torturing the kitty, whose name has become Kibby, since that is what it sounds like when Lorelai says kitty. The name has stuck pretty well! They have a lot of fun together. She also loves helping me cook and clean. She likes being in the kitchen with me, which is super cute. She loves putting the clean dishes away, hopefully that will stick in her teenage years!! (I doubt that, but a mom can hope!)

Another big milestone that has happened with Lorelai lately is staying in Nursery at church! She seems to love it now. I stay for about a minute or two, and then she is good. I think I have her teachers to thank for that, they are awesome! They have made all the difference for her! She is still SUPER shy, but I'm hoping that nursery will help with this. Her teachers say she is still really shy, and keeps to herself the whole time, but she likes being around the other kids! She is wonderful! She is my best little buddy!!!

Thanksgiving!

So this year for Thanksgiving, we were very excited to have people come to our house! This is the first time I have really had the opportunity to host a family gathering, and I loved it. My parents, my grandma, my brother RH and wife Steph and their 4 kids, Jordan, Julia, Zac and Sabrina came, as well as my brother Rich, wife Tiff(7ish months preggo with little Luke) and their son Jack. With the 3 of us we had a total of 15 people staying at our house. It was super fun. Our house is kind of set of for stuff like this, so it was nice. On Thanksgiving Day our friends (and next door neighbors)Lindsay, Britton and Ray also joined us for dinner. And then later that night my Aunt Micette, cousin Mindy, cousin Toukine, husband Dan and their kids came to have dessert and hang out with us. There were a few rounds of Wii boxing when they were here which was fun.
I felt like I was in the kitchen about 70% of the time, but I didn't mind. Tiff and my mom helped a lot in that department. We also played a few games, including one where my mom ended up drawing an obscene picture...good times! (Anyone you knows her knows how hilarious that is!) We did some shopping, hit the new In N Out in Draper, and just had a good time together. I love being with my family. I really enjoyed seeing RH's family. I hadn't seen them since my wedding back in 2005, so it was really nice to see them and catch up a bit!
Rich, Tiff and Jack were sadly the first ones to leave. After they did the rest of us headed to Grandma's house in Brigham City for a night. But first we stopped off at Temple Square in Salt Lake City to look at the amazing lights! They were just as beautiful this year as ever! You wouldn't think there is anything that could be done to make a temple more beautiful, but then it becomes Christmas!! After the lights we headed to Tucanos, a Brazilian restaurant in Salt Lake(sadly minus Dad...and Grandma). It was delicious! Pretty sure I ended up eating a full pineapple!
I had such a wonderful Thanksgiving and was so happy that so many members of my family could make it. Maybe next year the rest of them can join us!!! I really miss my family and wished that we all lived closer! We are all spread out so much that it is so fun when a few of us can get together!

September-Mid October

We are finally getting settled in to our home. Its a lot of work and it probably isn't always as clean as it should be, but I'm trying! I'm trying to put myself on a cleaning schedual to make sure I keep the house looking good. I'll get there eventually!
Something that has taken a lot of my time is our new addition. No, I did not have another baby(still trying for that!), we got a cute little kitty. After a couple weeks with the only name of Kitty, we agreed on Tiger Lily although most of the time it is still just "Kitty". She is a pretty good cat, cute personality. We have had her over a month now. Recently we have been trying to teach her not to bite, she has started biting too hard, but she is learning. She's a good kitty.

We went the other day to a little Harvest Festival. It was a lot of fun, Lorelai loved it.

There was this little duck thing, trains, "haunted" houses. Super fun day!

Lorelai's favorite was jumping on these pillow trampoline things. It was really fun. Steve and Natalie enjoyed it as well!

Lorelai is becoming such a big girl. She says so many things now and is so curious about everything. She counts up to 6 and then she gets a little confused, but I think that is pretty darn good! She is becoming very independent, "I do it! I do it!". She loves to help me cook and mix things. She is also a little fruit bat, apples, grapes and strawberries are her favorite! she loves to dance and play with balls and puzzles. She is so funny. I love her so much. I am so glad that she is my daughter!

Lorelai

Here is our little cutie! She will be turning 2 on May 24th! I can't believe how time has just flown by. She amazes me with all the things she does everyday. She talks so much, and is a little parrot that will repeat any and everything that you say. I love her!!!! She is very shy though. People don't seem to believe me that she has a very extensive vocabulary because they don't hear her say very much. But I assure you, she talks and talks, and is hilarious!! I just am so in love with my little girl. She is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.

Lorelai loves to draw. Sometimes its on the couch....but she will just draw and draw all day long. She loves pens the most though, she will use crayons and colored pencils(we haven't introduced markers yet...and don't think we will anytime soon), but she will always find a pend and just go to town. One of my favorite things she does is lay on her stomach and draw with her little feet up in the air. I haven't taken a picture of that yet, but I will soon! So cute.

She still uses a bottle. People say that it is bad for her and everything, but ya know what? I remember filling up my own bottle(I would add some Hershey's syrup too), and I turned out just fine! I know she will get sick of it one day, so I don't think it is that big of deal. It is mostly just when she wakes up and when she is getting tired. The rest of the day she drinks from a cup. And a lot of the time not even a sippy cup, a regular cup, and she does really well. So, I'm not going to feel bad about giving her a bottle!

Steve and I have been working out lately, and Lorelai mocks us! Ok, so she is just trying to do what we do, but it sometimes feels like she is mocking. She is cute though. She jumps up and down, and even finds this little 3 pound weights we have and lifts those up. So cute!

Our new home.

Ok, so I keep saying I'm going to start doing this and I just never seem to do it, so I'm starting right here, right now! So, it happened. I never thought it would, I said it would never happen to me, but it happened. I live in Utah!!! Steve got a job with the church after his internship, so we will be staying in Utah for awhile. Long enough that we decided to buy a house. It is in Saratoga Springs. Steve's office is moving to Riverton soon(they keep pushing back the date though, it was supposed to be the beginning of this year, then march, then July, then September, now they say for sure by the end of the year) and he will be about 15 minutes away from work, so not too bad. I just feel bad for him because we will be moving into our home mid-May so he will have to commute all the way to Salt Lake still. But we are happy and we feel good about the move. We got a really good deal with government grants and things, pretty much we were given a total of $20,000 by the government(federal and state) and the builder to buy this home. It is 2600sq feet, 5 bed, 3 full bath, 3 car garage(you can't see that with my lovely photography skills). It is beautiful!!!! It is RIGHT down the street from a nice big park that I'm sure Lorelai is going to love. And also right across from the park is a new elementary school, which is where Lorelai will go in just 3 short years. Crazy!

The story of my appendix

Ok, so here is what happened. Tuesday morning around 3 or 4am I woke up with a stabbing pain in my right side. Worst pain ever.I threw up a couple times. I am not someone who ever wants to go to the doctor, but I couldn't wait to make an appointment! They couldn't see me until 11am, so I had to endure it until then. The pain as so bad I couldn't sleep, so I was just tired, in pain and miserable.
So, we go to the doctor. We hadn't been to one since we moved to Utah, so we just looked at the list off our insurance and found the closest one to our apartment. I didn't care who we went to, I just wanted to feel better. Turns out I should have cared! So, the doctor checked me out, and said it was probably one of 3 things. Appendicitis, a sist on my ovaries, or constipation. He took some x-rays(which wouldn't even show if it was appendicitis) and he treated me for constipation, the least dangerous of the 3. But he convinced us that it wasn't appendicitis and he gave me some pain medicine, some poo-medicine(that's what I called it), and some anti-nausea stuff and sent us home saying to come back if there were any problems. He told us he was going out of town but he would be back Thursday, so to come back then if it didn't get better. So, he made us think it wasn't serious, but man was he wrong!
So Wednesday I actually did start to feel better. I was able to get some sleep so that really helped. I even had Steve go to work, I thought I was feeling ok. Well, that didn't last that long. I had to have Steve come back home, and they had some special thing at work, so he was all the way over by Park City, and he had to have someone take him back to Salt Lake to get his car before he could make it home. While that was happening I almost passed out a few times. I was just super dizzy. The pain didn't seem as bad though.
By Thursday morning, the pain was unbearable! I couldn't even walk. I didn't think I was going to be able to make it down the stairs to get to the car to see the doctor(which didn't have an appointment again until 11am). It took me a long time, but I made it. Steve had to get a wheelchair to bring me into the doctor's office. So the same doctor I saw before sent me to go get a CT scan. They didn't have one in their office, so I had to go to a different office to get it done. While Steve and Lorelai got some lunch, I sat there and drank that nasty drink so they could take the images. When they looked at my images they sent me directly to the hospital, I had appendicitis.
So, I got all checked into the hospital(which took forever, stupid volunteers couldn't even take my blood pressure. Kudos to them for volunteering, but I was in pain!). They put me in a little waiting type room with a bed and took some blood and that kind of thing. Then they told me there were a few people ahead of me for surgery so it was going to be awhile. In the meantime, my mom and dad were cancelling their plans to go to my cousin Elizabeth's wedding reception, and coming to Salt Lake for my surgery recovery. Steve and Lorelai stayed with me for awhile, but I had them go home to get some real sleep, since we didn't know when my surgery was going to be.
Around midnight, they start getting me ready for surgery. They said it should take less than an hour, and they would just put 3 small cuts in me and that the recovery would be quick, and I would only have to be in the hospital a couple days at most. Well, unfortunately, that didn't happen. My appendix had not only ruptured, but it had completely liquefied. They ended having to remove part of my ascending colon as well. Surgery ended up being about 4 1/2 hours, and instead of 3 tiny incisions, I had an 8 inch cut starting at my bellybutton.
I was in the hospital for 6 days. I missed Lorelai's 2nd birthday, and I had never ever spent a night away from her before this. Luckily my mom was able to stay and watch Lorelai. I don't know what I would have done without her! She is amazing. I had a REALLY hard time not being with my little girl. The longest I had ever been away from her was about 5 hours before all of this. Anytime any of the nurses or anything would mention her I would just be in tears. Actually talking about it now, I still start crying. I missed her so much. She didn't like getting to close to me though, but she would at least give me a kiss before she left. I think it scared her to see me with stuff all attached to me.
So, I came home and still was in a lot of pain, I couldn't really walk much, it took me a while before I could even stand up straight. My mom ended up staying for about 3 weeks. We were also suppose to move into our new home about 2 weeks after surgery, which is why mom stayed a little longer than planned. She pretty much packed up half of the apartment all by herself. With all her health problems, she still was there to help me. Have I said how amazing she is???? But our house kept getting pushed back, so we didn't move in for a while, so Mom went home. I was doing pretty well, I just couldn't lift anything over 10 pounds. This made it pretty challenging with Lorelai, and trying to get the rest of the house packed up. I couldn't do much, and I felt pretty useless. When we did end up moving into our home, the Saturday before Father's Day, I still wasn't allowed to pick anything up over 10 pounds, so I was once again useless. The elder's quorum from our ward came and helped us pack up the truck, they were awesome! Got it done in 2 hours. And then when we got to our house, one of Steve's co-workers and his son, daughter and wife helped us unload the truck. We just had most of it put in the garage, but they put all the big stuff in the house. It was unloaded in seriously like 45minutes! We were so thankful for all the help that we got that day.
So yeah, that is my appendix story. Its been a little over 2 months and I'm doing well. My scar doesn't look that bad, I mean it is still this huge thing, but its not terrible. A couple days ago I tried working out for the first time, nothing to strenuous, just a little stepper for about 15 minutes. Thought I was going to die after! Didn't hurt really when I was doing it, but afterwards, I was in pain!!!! So, I'm putting off working out for a little while longer unfortunately. But I can finally do a little more around the house now. I still try not to lift too much, and if I'm starting to hurt, I have Steve lift Lorelai and help me a little more. He has been WONDERFUL through all this.
So, this could have been all avoided, and I could have just had a simple little less than an hour surgery and barely visible scars if my doctor wouldn't have taken the easy way out. I just wonder that if I was his child, is that the same treatment I would have received? Or would he have been more concerned and treated me accordingly?
